CROSS COUNTRY TRAVELS TO STATE De Queen Sr. Boys placed second in State competition behind Shiloh Christian. Team consisted of: Daniel Garcia, David Gomez, Erick Meija, Leonarda Garcia, Ivan Dela Cuesta, Jose martinez, Eleazar Palma, Randy Gonzalez and Jorge Castillo De Queen Sr Girls finished 4th behind Shiloah Christian, Heber Springs, and Huntsville. Team was made up of Alexis Hankins, Jayce Tatum, Daniella Hernandez, Lizbeth Torres, Alexy Poleaz, Karina Angeles, Branda Balderes, Jasmine, Spear, Samantha Daily 2009 Cross Country Championship will be held Saturday, November 7th at Mountain Home High School


TWO AHS ATHLETES HONORED Ashton Mays (left), a senior at Ashdown High School, competed in the class 4 A state track meet Thursday, May 14, 2009, and won the high jump contest with a jump of 6 feet 5 inches. Ashton competed in the MEET OF CHAMPS Wednesday, May 20 and won 2nd place with all schools in the state sending their best to compete. Ashton plans to attend Arkansas Baptist College in Little Rock. Darron Baker (right), a senior from Ashdown High School, competed in the State Decathlon, May 27-28, 2009. Darron received the honor of finishing in 6th place. The competition showcased the best 55 track athletes from all divisions and classifications. Darron also competed at 6 track meets this season for Ashdown High School. He received 5 HIGH POINT AWARDSfor his efforts at those track meets. Darron plans to attend The University Of Texas / Tyler to compete in track and basketball.
