Ashdown Students Attend District Competition

Aliyah Anderson also represented District IV as an officer this year and Amy Newton for singing the National Anthem at the General Session.

Congratulations to the following FBLA Ashdown High School students who competed in District IV Competition held at USCCH in Hope on February 5th. These students will compete in State competition in April: Aliyah Anderson -2nd place in Public Speaking Kohl Kervin- 2nd place in Introduction to Financial Math Chelbi Gathright, Rhys Parker, and Ansleigh Patrick- 2nd place in Business Ethics Amy Newton, Cole Spigner, and Lyndon Youngblood, 2nd Place in Intro. Henderson students were able to participate in the k-12 Culinary Connection Jr. Chef Program. Students, one from each class donned chef hats and made their own 7 inch pizzas. Students were taught about proper hand washing, cooking techniques while making their pizzas, and learned about nutrition facts while the pizzas baked. Chef Justin Mills of k-12 Culinary Connection said, "the Jr. Chef Program was to get kids cooking and teach them how to eat healthy.” The students were presented a certificate and enjoyed watermelon, apples, and their freshly baked homemade pizzas.


The Little River County Chamber of Commerce held their annual Membership and Awards Banquet on Thursday, February 7, 2019 in the Barbara Horn Civic Center on the UA Cossatot Ashdown Campus.

Several hundred people were present to enjoy the steak or chicken dinner, entertainment provided by the Ashdown Drama Club, and visit with their friends.
